Shower Heads

Once you’ve chosen and installed your new shower head - which is simple to DIY, by the way - ensure it stays in tip-top shape with the proper care and it will last for years. If you feel like the water pressure isn’t as strong as it used to be, or if water is spraying everywhere except where it should be, the holes in the shower nozzle are probably clogged from mineral buildup. Don’t worry - it's not too hard to clean. Newer shower heads may have flexible rubber nozzles. Sometimes all it takes is running an old toothbrush across the nozzles to loosen the buildup and you’re all set. However, with tougher buildup, you can try the DIY bag method our experts love. You don’t even have to remove your shower head if you don’t want to. Simply fill a plastic bag partway with white vinegar. Attach it with a rubber band to the shower head and let it soak for a few hours or overnight. Remove the bag, run the shower to remove the loosened particles, and your shower head should be sparkling clean! Do this once a month or so for best results. (P.S. be cautious if your shower head has a brass, gold, or nickel finish - always check manufacturer instructions.)
